Jean Thornton Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jean Thornton (Cumming, Georgia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 22, 2025 at the age of 94. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Jean Thornton to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Shedd and Inez Shedd; her husband James E. Thornton; her siblings, Nell Shedd Holtzhouser and Harold Shedd; and her grandson Mahlon Thornton.
She is survived by: her sons, Wayne Thornton (Jenelle), Mike Thornton and Mark Thornton (Amanda); her grandchildren, Brooke Vann, Megan Holbrook, Kristin Brown, Colin Thornton and Emma Thornton; her cousin Jimmy Rogers; and her nephews, Dean Holtzhouser, Paul Shedd and David Shedd. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McDonald & Son Funeral Home (150 Sawnee Dr, Cumming, GA 30040). A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at the Sawnee View Memorial Gardens (1390 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040).
