He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufford Merrell and Edith Hollifield; and his brothers, James Merrell, Ronnie Merrell and Bobby Merrell.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Cole Merrell; his children, Duane, Sasha Merrell, Alison and Jason Smith; his grandchildren, Sawyer, Abbi Smith, Sydney Smith, Christian, Jordyn Stewart (Rylan), Jordan Stewart, Matthew Stewart and Jaden Stewart; his sister Barbara; and his siblings-in-law, Gene Shoemaker, Burley, Ruth Cole, James, Sheila Cole and Jan Tipton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ingram Funeral Home (210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA 30040). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
