He was predeceased by: his parents, A. D. McDonald and Annie Mae McDonald; his former wife Sara DeFreese McDonald; his wife Louise Bassett McDonald; his children, Brenda McDonald Jones, Donna McDonald Henderson and Joseph Sanford "Sandy" McDonald; and his siblings, Harold McDonald, Lewis McDonald, Martha McDonald Allen, Mary Louise McDonald and Jane McDonald Caswell.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Kristin Henderson, Sara Jones and Zach Croley; his great grandchild Kamille Tuff; and his children-in-law, Margaret Williams McDonald, Don Henderson and Calvin Jones.
