He was predeceased by: his father James, Sr.; and his brothers, Charles and Allen. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl; his children, Angie, Danny, Amy, Anita, Valerie and Crystal; his mother Ruby; his siblings, Beckey, Lillian and Bobby; and his parents-in-law, Thurman and Gloria. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.
