He was predeceased by: his parents, Chalmus Cochran and Lena Dover; and his half-brothers, Doyle, Roy Nix, Gus and Chalmus Cochran.

He is survived by: his sister Jane Arey; his son Alton Jr.; his daughter-in-law Angel; and his grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Michael, Lawrence and Seraphina.
