He was predeceased by: his parents, James Harbert and Sarah Loucinda Thomas Petitt; and his siblings, JD Petitt, Robert Petitt, Eli Petitt, Rose Gooch and Mae Loggins.
He is survived by: his wife Edith Fain Petitt of Cornelia; his son Richard "Ricky"; his daughter-in-law Jacqueline Petitt of Columbus; his daughter Sandra; his son-in-law Terry McEntire of Alto; his son Gary Scott Petitt of Cornelia; his sisters, Mary Lou Skelton of Cleveland and Pauline; his brother-in-law Bernie Blakney of Cleveland; his brother Lum "L. G." Petitt of Cleveland; his grandchildren, Josh McEntire, Stacy, Jeremy McEntire, Kristen, Benjamin Petitt, Nicklas Petitt and Aimee Petitt; and his great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Brady, Nolan and Jonah.
