He was predeceased by: his parents, James Andrew Shirley and Lucy Blackburn Shirley Bullard; his wife Eloise Cochran Shirley; and his brothers, Amos Shirley, Dennis Shirley, Bill Bullard and Joe Dean Bullard.
He is survived by: his sons, J. Michael (Donna Dill Shirley) and Jeff Shirley of Cornelia; his grandchildren, Marisa (Stan Whittington) and Rachelle (Ricky Woodruff); his great grandchildren, Maley Whittington, Zeke Whittington, Riya Woodruff, Ryte Woodruff and Rennon Woodruff; and his brother Harold Bullard of Lyman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
