He was predeceased by: his father Henry J. Hunter; his wife Brenda Hunter; his son Mark Hunter; and his siblings, James Hunter, Tommy Hunter, Kenneth Hunter, Marie Hunter Purcell and Pauline Hunter Chitwood.

He is survived by: his brother Bobby; and his sister-in-law Fannie Hunter of Cornelia. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
