She was predeceased by: her parents, James Lawton Dorough and Eula Pauline Sanders Dorough; her husband James R. Dowdy, Jr.; and her brothers, James H. Dorough, Kermit S. Dorough and W. D. "Billy" Dorough.
She is survived by: her children, James R. "Dickie" Dowdy III (Joy), William G. "Jerry" Dowdy (Janet), Patricia Willard (Dana) and Teresa Cromer (Wilkes); and her sister Eula Faye Culverhouse of Macon. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
