He was predeceased by: his mother Annie Mae Porter Coffen. He is survived by: his father Essex James Coffen, Sr. of Decatur, Georgia; his sister Anitha Kemberly Thornton (Ndgewa) of Atlanta, Georgia; his uncle Jasper Porter of Villa Rica; his aunts, Georgia Mrs of Cordele, Maudie Louise Lewis of Cordele, Gwendolyn Porter of Cordele and Thelma Coffen Harper of Cordele; and his nephews, Melvin "Sebahive" Johnson (Gloria) of Manhattan and Chike A. Moody of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
