He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Heywood Gill and Sarah Johnson Gill. He is survived by: his wife Nedra Whittle Gill of Cordele; his children, Walter Gill (Tammy) of Vienna, Lisa Fultz of Cordele, Scott Rainey (Leila) of Cordele, Vicky Fuller (Ralph) of Leesburg and Bridget Dowdy (Randy) of Valdosta; and his brother George Gill (Judy) of Leesburg. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
