With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Verne Purkey of Concord, Georgia, who passed away on March 15, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Verne departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Verne. Though Verne may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Verne O. Purkey, Sr. and Lavonne Cramer Purkey; and his sisters, Silver Cooke and Rebecca Mras. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Purkey; his daughters, Kristin Purkey (Dale Auslander) and Kellie McGill; his grandson Brodey McGill; his son Kristopher Purkey; his granddaughters, Kara Purkey and Ashlea Purkey; his children, Michelle Penquite and Verne Purkey III; and his brother Edward Purkey (Karen). He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.
