He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Childs and Mazelle Adams Childs; his wife Edna Merle Seagraves Childs; and his son Steve Childs. He is survived by: his son Jerry Childs of Commerce; and his brother Sammy Childs of Commerce. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Erastus Christian Church Youth.
