She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Worley Dean and Bertie Lee Coile Dean; and her siblings, Helen Dean Gentry, William Waymon of Danielsville, Jack Edsel of Danielsville, James Roscoe of Danielsville, Hugh Elton of Danielsville, Richard B of Denison and Rachel Frances (Hugh) of Kannapolis, N. C..

She is survived by: her husband Gene McElroy; her son Todd O'Neal McElroy (Ruth); her grandson Zane O'Neal; her great grandchildren, Carrigan Ann of Commerce and Mattilyn Marie of Commerce; and her sisters, Agnes Dean Fitts (Furman) of Danielsville and Charlotte Dean Gunnels (late Kenneth) of Danielsville. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
