He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Simpson and Lillian F. Simpson; his stepfather Ray Lancaster; and his brothers, James E. Simpson and Jeffery "Jeff" D. Simpson.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Pressley Simpson; his son Grover Douglas "Doug"; his daughter-in-law Kathy Simpson; his daughter Missie Simpson; his son-in-law Ricky Hutchins; his grandchildren, Ashley Young, Kimberly Simpson, Brianna Simpson, Andy Kent, A. J. and Chrissy Kent; his great grandchildren, Landan, Kynleigh, Esten, Luke, Greyson and David; his sisters, Linda S. Harrison (Frank) and Gloria S. Jones (Glenn); and his sisters-in-law, Jackie P. McDaniel, Sue P. Wilson, Rosie P. McDaniel, Betty G. Simpson and Mozelle H. Simpson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
