She was predeceased by: her parents, Doc Kennedy and Mozzell Kennedy; her husband Tommy Layton; and her siblings, John Kennedy, Lucy Saylors, Doris Bond, David Kennedy and Lamar Thomas.

She is survived by: her children, Kenneth (Conti Layton), James Layton, Robert Layton, Therresa (Chuck Rust), Lisa L. Addison and Lavonia; and her siblings, James Kennedy, Geneva Alexander, Juantia Thompson and Virgina Kennedy. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.
