He was predeceased by: his parents, Otha McDonald and Winnie McDonald; and his siblings, Robert McDonald, Rachel Anderson and Peggy Shubert.

He is survived by: his wife Alvanell Strickland McDonald; his children, Joey Neal McDonald and Christina (Mark); his brother Cecil McDonald; and his grandchildren, Devon Colley (Cleve), Austin Roberts (Billy) and David Lee McDonald.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Webbs Creek Baptist Church or Saint Jude's Children Hospital.
