He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leonard Shelton and Lena Bell Sanders Shelton; his wife Geneva Mae Wynn Shelton; his siblings, Ada Collins, James Shelton, Lorine Porterfield, Anne Moss, Bessie Bullock, Lessie Burrows, Lucille Pruitt, Bill Shelton and John Henry Shelton; his daughters-in-law, Mary Shelton and Lynn Shelton; and his granddaughter Melinda Locklear.
He is survived by: his children, David Shelton, Steve Shelton, Serena Jordan (Lamar) and Eric Shelton (Betty); his grandchildren, Wendy Prather, Kristy Adcock, Sonny Shelton and Chris Baugh; and his brother Robert Shelton (Margaret). He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
