It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Cheryl Smith of Columbus, Georgia, born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, who passed away on February 6, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Rev. Ralph Melton and Shirley Morlock Melton. She is survived by : her husband Cary A. Smith, Sr.; her son Zachary E. Papageorge (Jessy); her grandchildren, Elias, Asen, Isaac Papageorge, Benjamin E. Papageorge (Tori Hunt) and Matthew L. Smith; her child CJ Smith (Karen); her granddaughter Hazel Smith; and her brothers, Ralph "Bud" Melton, Jr. (Kathy), Bill Melton (Tammy) and Bradley Melton (Cheri). She is also survived by her nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family invites attendees who would feel safer at home due to the pandemic to please join them on Facebook Live for a virtual broadcast of the service at the link below.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made in her memory to Columbus Hospice online at https: //http://www.columbushospice.com or in person at 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909.
