He was predeceased by: his father Roy Dawson; and his sister Kim Stevens. He is survived by: his wife Melodie Dawson; his children, Cassandra Dawson of Florida, Sean Reece of Florida and Darrell; his mother Debra Dignall of Florida; and his siblings, Veronica Summerall of Texas, Teresa Dawson of Florida, Roy Dawson of Florida and Jerry Dawson of Florida. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
