He was predeceased by: his mother Vera Mae Hicks; and his parents-in-law, Leo and Bessie Maples (Sharp). He is survived by: his wife Juanita Hicks (Maples); his daughter Heather (Hicks); his son-in-law Paul Tate of Dalton; and his sister Genita Kilburn (Hicks) of Gulf Breeze, Fla.. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia, HSNG.org.
