Bates; his children, Caren Bates Wetzel (Wayne) of Taylorsville, UT, Janet Bates of Cochran and Steven Bates of Cochran; his grandsons, Collin Bates and Justin Bates; his brothers, W. L. Bates (JoAnn) of Cary and John L Bates (Glenda) of Brewton, GA; and his friend Tyler Wynne. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
