He was predeceased by: his parents, Hudson James and Susie Coley Padgett; his son John Hudson Padgett; his grandson Thomas Henry Padgett; his brothers, Lenard Outler Padgett and Billy Padgett; and his brother-in-law Leo Holland.

He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Burgess Padgett; his son Kip Padgett (Tracy) of Wake Forest; his grandchildren, Cole Padgett and Emma Potzner; his siblings, Wallace Padgett (Linda), Jimmy Padgett (Linda) of Cochran, Nadine Holland of Cochran, Peggy Baugher (Leroy) of Athens and Paulette Watson (Lee) of Valdosta; and his sister-in-law Janice Padgett of Cochran. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
