He was predeceased by: his parents, James Athens and Maude Edwards Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Jan Bishop Nelson of Cochran; his daughter Leigh Ann Taylor (Barry) of Cochran; his grandsons, Randy Sapp of Cochran and Tyler Sapp of Cochran; and his siblings, Carl Nelson (Mary Ann) of Unadilla and Annie Maude Nelson of Unadilla. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
