He was predeceased by: his parents, William Marvin Nix and Zadie Self Nix. He is survived by: his children, Margaret Grindle (Joey Nix), Barbara (Bud Edge), Glen (Donna Nix) and Greg Nix (Sheril Nix); his close friend Joey Clanton; his sister Janie Ewing; and his half-sister Ruth Ann Blackwell. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
