He was predeceased by: his former wife Nancy Ouzts Dickens; and his parents, Miriam Jackson Burns and Tom Dickens, Jr.. He is survived by: his son Tom Dickens IV (Donna); his wife Susan Sharpe Dickens; his daughter Lara Dickens Williams; his brother Winburn Jackson Dickens (Elaine); his half-brother Marty Hurt (Margaret); his stepdaughters, Stephanie Brown (Mike) and Courtnie McGinty (Patrick); his grandchildren, Preston Brown, Keighly Brown, Mason McGinty, Jessie Claire McGinty and Erin Williams; and his pets, Scooter Luke and Huck Henry. He is also survived by many cousins, a niece and nephew.

At J Tom's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity he cherished.
