He was predeceased by: his parents, Lemuel J. Buice and Mary Mason Buice; and his stepfather Johnny Campbell. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Buice (Scruggs); his daughters, Becky Ramsey (Mike), Linna Shipman and Beth Trinh (Hai); his grandchildren, Jennifer Wiggley (Daniel), Joseph Ramsey (Savannah), Billy, Nathan, Honor Shipman, Dustin, Blaise, Constance, Addie and Ender Trinh; his great grandchildren, Caleb Norrell and Tate Wiggley; and his siblings, Mary Jane Nash (Danny), Deborah Spivey (Gerald) and Edwin Buice.
