He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Carpenter and Florence Webb Carpenter. He is survived by: his children, Gloria Cabe (Mitchell) of Franklin, NC, Tim Carpenter of Franklin, NC, Jerry Shope (Rohnda) of Clayton, GA and Ricky Shope of Franklin, NC; and his brothers, Carl Carpenter of Clayton, GA and Irvin Carpenter of Clayton, GA. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
