It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Emmit Wood (Clayton, Georgia), born in Whittier, North Carolina, who passed away on August 24, 2019, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude L. Wood and Emma W. Wood; and his siblings, Vernon, Earl Wood, Gladys Wood and Elsie Coggins.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce McDonald Wood; his children, Eddie (Andrea) of Madisonville, TN, Kim Ruff (Randy) of Rock Hill, SC and Tamra Talley (Clay) of Scaly Mountain, NC; his grandchildren, Shane Wood of Loudon, TN, Tanya Datson of Vonore, TN, Kristy Plemmons of Madisonville, TN, Wade Ruff of Spartanburg, SC and Rebecca Ruff of Denver, CO; and his siblings, Lawrence Wood of Brevard, NC, Hazel Miller of Scaly Mountain, NC, Oleta Rogers of Asheville, NC, Ruth Keever and Judy Reece of Whittier, NC.. He is also survived by five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
