He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Smith and Izebell Beaty Smith; his wife Margaret Carver Smith; and his siblings, Lawrence Melvin, J. C. Smith, Robert Smith, Linda Faye, Dorothy Bush and Llewllyn Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Dixon (Linda), Dale Dixon, Debbie Atkinson, Sharon Shirley (Luke) and Susan Davis (Jake); and his siblings, Rosia Lee Page, Hazel Talley, Reba Towe, Bonnie Ammons, Alice Tallent (Greg), Sue Wilkerson (Donnie), Jim Smith (Lynn) and Tim Smith (Sheila). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
