He was predeceased by: his parents, Elgie Thompson and Lina DeLoach Thompson; his wife Jean Sapp Thompson; his siblings, Carolyn Todd, Jean Moore, Bennie Threatte and Tim Thompson; his children-in-law, Mike Sapp and Lisa Thompson; his grandson Ashley Sapp; and his grandson-in-law Michael Hill.
He is survived by: his children, Dennis Thompson (Patti) of Cobbtown, Marty Thompson (Megan) of Claxton and Fonda Sapp Jones (Alfred) of Register; and his sisters, Glenda Anderson (Billie) and Brenda Sapp. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, twelve grandchildren.
