She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Eva Durrence Burkhalter and H. D. Burkhalter of Claxton; her sister Mary Helmuth; her daughter Jenny Gardner; her grandson Joseph Gardner (Robyn); her great grandchild Sawyer; her stepson Bob Eighmie; and her niece Judy Burkhalter Anderson.
Her strong faith was a firm foundation, passed down from her parents, Eva Durrence Burkhalter and H.D. Burkhalter of Claxton, and shared to varying degrees among three siblings, most notably her best friend and sister, the late Mary Helmuth.
