He was predeceased by : his parents, William Eison and Mabel Smith Spence; his grandparents, William H. Spence, Ada Eison Spence, William Young and Mary Irene Taylor Smith; his sister Jane Spence Barnette; and his nephew William Anthony Holbrook.

He is survived by : his wife Nita; his children, William Edward Spence Jr. (Jayne) and Chrischel Spence Ramsey (Hunter); his granddaughter Jessica Spence Massey (Joe); his great grandchild Piper; his granddaughter Sara Anne Spence Allen (Kaylob); his daughter Ellianna Lea; his sister Carolyn Spence Holbrook Scott; and his brother-in-law W. Howell Barnette. He is also survived by many cousins and other family members.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 6th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hillside Memorial Chapel (5495 GA-197, Clarkesville, GA 30523). A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 6th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, June 6th 2024 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Hillside Memorial Chapel (5495 GA-197, Clarkesville, GA 30523).
