She was predeceased by: her son Matthew Essex. She is survived by: her husband Tom Essex of Clarkesville, GA; her son Mark Essex (Tonya); her grandchildren, Destiny Essex, Allie Essex, David Essex, Danielle Essex, Abbie Essex and Austin Essex; and her siblings, Marsha Griner of Savannah, GA, Larry Foskey, Patricia Baker (Shelly), Janice Yarborough (Sonny) and Terry Foskey (Joni).

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Georgia or Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in memory of Margie Essex.
