He was predeceased by: his wife Edith Bramblett Chapman; his granddaughter Tonya; his parents, Walter Chapman and Beatrice Brindle Chapman; his siblings, John, Arthur (Charlotte), Horace (Faye), Ernest, Mabel Irene, Anna Belle, Gladys Mashburn (Jim) and Polly Bond (Keith); his nephews, Shawn Chapman, Bobby Chapman, Billy Chapman and Jerry Mashburn; and his siblings, Albert "Snooks" Defoor, Kenneth "Bo" Defoor, Thomas "Tinker" Defoor, Mazie Defoor Stansell, Madge Defoor Fleming and Virginia Defoor Smith.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home (2362 US-76, Chatsworth, GA 30705). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Casey Springs Community Church Cemetery.
