She was predeceased by: her father Haskell James; her brother Harold Grady of Charleston; and her brothers-in-law, Harold Nelson of Charleston and Donald Swinney of Chatsworth, Georgia.. She is survived by: her husband Fagan Roy Akins; her sons, Timothy (Lisa Akins) and Donald (Dawn Akins); her grandchildren, Nicole, Heath Hawkins and Robert Akins; her great grandchildren, Caroline, Heath, Elizabeth and Kathryn; and her siblings, Mary Helen Swinney, Barbara Nelson, Carlton (Bonnie Grady) and John (Pat Cusack). She is also survived by her sons' friends and her nieces/nephews thought of Nona as their second mother.
