He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Jo Tankersley; his son Harold "Dwayne" Tankersley, Jr.; his parents, Waldo Tankersley and Mary Edna McClurd Tankersley; his parents-in-law, Selmar and Dessie Ledford; and his brothers, Marvin and James Tankersley.
He is survived by: his children, Laura, Billy Bryson of Chatsworth, David and Tina Tankersley of Fort Oglethorpe; his grandchildren, Shelley, Eric Ridley of Dalton, Cole Coffey of Dalton, Ariel, Cameron Merk of Chatsworth, Bronston Tankersley, Jada of Smyrna and Aubri Tankersley of Fort Oglethorpe; his great grandchildren, Cooper, Madelyn, Jazmin and Brayden; his siblings, Carter Tankersley (Joy), Hilda Abercrombie, Hyatt Tankersley (Cathy), Ann Weaver (Johnny), Benny Tankersley (Deb), Patsy Callahan and Linda Young; his sister-in-law Jane Tankersley; his pet Zoey; and his close friends, Linda, Tracy Stewart, Joyce Ellis, Nicki Chastain, Kelly and Michelle Thurman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces great-nephews, and cousins.
