He was predeceased by: his parents, Emma Louise Hudgens Poteet and James David Poteet; his wife Louise Barnes Poteet; and his siblings, Peggy Parker and Larry Poteet.
He is survived by: his children, James David Poteet of Chatsworth, Timothy Scott Poteet of Knoxville, TN, Christopher Darren Poteet of Chatsworth and Connie; and his son-in-law Donnie Croy of Chatsworth. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
