He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Lankford and Lucille Worsham Lankford; his wife Barbara Ann Ploof Lankford; and his sister Jean Orebaugh. He is survived by: his children, Ginger Lankford Slaughter (Jason), John Derrick Lankford Jr. and Tod Lankford (Phyllis); his sisters, Linda Tanner and Sandy Horton (Bobby); his grandchildren, Tyler Lankford, Janson Slaughter (Maggie), Jaydon Slaughter, Katie Slaughter and Ansley Slaughter; and his great grandchild Layton Lankford. He is also survived by Several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lime Branch Baptist Church (1127 Tallapoosa Hwy, Cedartown, GA 30125). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
