He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Jehue Rutland, Sr. and Ida Davis Rutland; his sister Blanche Rutland Kulp; his brother-in-law Mike Statham; and his nephews, David Kulp and Gavin Statham.

He is survived by: his wife Lynda Statham Rutland; his children, Ashley Rutland Adamo (Geoff) and Jud Rutland (Pam); and his grandchildren, Julia Rutland, Sam Rutland and Annika Adamo.

Visitation was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Victory Baptist Church (15 Hendrix Rd, Rockmart, GA 30153). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
