He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Kerns, Sr. and Stella Selman Kerns; his son Roderick Todd "Boo" Kerns; his grandson Will Shaw; and his brother Robert "Bobby" Kerns.
He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Goss; his daughters, LaVerne Pruitt (Steve) and Dawn Shaw (Jerry); his grandchildren, Steven Pruitt (Sarah), Stevanie Bell (Clay), Lacey Shaw, Molly Oakes and Maggie Oakes; his great grandchild Mary Grace Pruitt of Albany, GA; and his siblings, Lynn Mills of Cave Spring and Alvin Kerns of Cave Spring. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
