He was predeceased by: his parents, James Roy Benefield and Ruby Crittenden Benefield; and his siblings, Floyd, James, Dorothy Jones and Nancy Canty.

He is survived by: his wife Lynn; his children, Mark Hebert of Newport News, VA, Tori Larck (Hobie) of Wetmpka, AL, Heather Lunsford (Eddie) of Phenix City, AL, Jason Hebert (Jennifer) of Destin, FL and Leigh Roller; his sister Linda King (David) of Phenix City, AL; his grandchildren, Brandon Dobson (Kindall) of Wilmington, NC, Tamara Ross (Johnny) of Wetumpka, AL, Zachary Luster (Samantha) of Wetumpka, AL, Kaitlyn (Justin), Grace, Dylan Lark of Wetumpka, AL, Zachary Hebert of Surry, VA, Drew Lunsford (Savannah) of Columbus, GA, Payton Glaze (Laracco), Melany Lunsford of Phenix City, AL, Nyles Huling of Stockbridge, GA, Scarlett and Miller Hebert of Destin, FL; his great grandchildren, Nora and Ian Dobson of Wilmington, NC; and his siblings-in-law, Sandra Benefield of Midland, GA and Chris Lutz of Houston, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and very special friends.
