It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Wayne Mathews Sr. of Cartersville, Georgia, born in Bradenton, Florida, who passed away on February 16, 2021, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Drexel Mathews and Genevieve Young; his wife Gloria Mathews; his daughter Micki Mathews; and his brother Leonard Mathews.
He is survived by: his children, Debi Smith (Buster), Barney Mathews (Kathy Greer) and Patti Daugherty (Dale); his grandchildren, Matt Smith (Beth), Jeni Carter (Jeff), Courtney Palma (Marshall), Trae Mathews (Allie) and Danielle Mathews; his great grandchildren, Carson, Cameron, Brooks Carter, Mason Smith and Kaylee Palma; his siblings, Betty Miles, Joyce Miller and Andy Mathews; and his close friend Fran Chavar. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions in Mr. Mathews' honor to the Kiwanis Club of Cartersville.
