He was predeceased by: his parents, Berta Lou Murphy (Wilson) and James Murphy; and his siblings, Jo Ann Murphy, Jimmy Murphy and Bobby Murphy.
He is survived by: his wife Pamela Hale Murphy; his son Denton Jordan Hale (Nichelle Hale); his grandchildren, Vada Hale, Tate Hale and Mavis Hale; his brother Johnny Murphy; and his sister-in-law Irish Murphy. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
