He was predeceased by: his parents, G. R. Nolen and Annie Veal Nolen; the mother of his children Ivie Lee Nolen; his brothers, Elbert Nolen, Wendall Nolen and Houston Nolen; and his half-brother Colbert Nolen.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Denney Nolen; his children, Patricia (Ronnie Lovvorn), Rhonda (Kevin Moon) and Christopher; his daughter-in-law Keri Nolen; his sisters, Carolyn (Jerry Moon) and Mickie Thames; his grandchildren, Lauren, John Hunter, Kristin, Josh Walston, Stephanie, Bobby Shelton and Josh Lyons; and his great grandchildren, Chandler Morris, Kyleigh Morris, Allie Walston, Bryar Shelton, Brantley Shelton, Bella Kate Shelton and Abigail Hunter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
