He was predeceased by: his parents, John Taylor and Frances Peters Poindexter; and his siblings, John Taylor Poindexter, Albert Lovelace Poindexter and Betty Lee Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Annie Bell; his children, Cindy (Thomas Ore), Lewis Poindexter (Jennifer) and Bill Poindexter (Jon Ogle); and his grandchildren, Tommy Ore, Michael (Jennifer Ore), Lacey Ore (Cindy), Torry Smith (Stefani), Joshua Poindexter (Asami) and Scott Poindexter (Tamara). He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
