He was predeceased by: his parents, William Deese and Addie Mae Stapler Deese; his wife Doris Riddle Deese; his stepson James V. Chatman; his sisters, Evelyn Benefield, Lois (James Grainger) and Opal (Hubert Blackmon); his siblings-in-law, Winfred Smith, Rodney Smith and Diane Deese; and his sister Susan Deese.
He is survived by: his stepdaughter Brenda; his son-in-law Geron Crawford; and his siblings, Elsie Mae Smith, Alice Smith and Bruce Deese. He is also survived by five step grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren.
