He was predeceased by: his parents, James Brittain Crowell Sr. and Annie Ruth Derryberry Crowell; and his sister Mary Crowell Walker. He is survived by: his wife Ann Smith Crowell; his daughters, Jennifer (Monty Spena) and Ruth Crowell; and his grandchildren, Brittany Anderson, James Spena, Logan Spena and Mary Esta Sherrer. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
