He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgie Howard Spence and Ed Louis; his wife Mary "Faye" Simpkins Louis; his daughter Tina; his son-in-law Joe Williamson; and his half-brother Conan Spence.

He is survived by: his daughters, Anita (Jeff Dixon), Janet (David Braswell) and Pam Whitlock; and his half-sister Shiela Kidd. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
