He was predeceased by: his parents, Roscoe G. Slate and Katie Elizabeth Dearing Slate; his former wife Melinda Gladney Slate (Linda); his daughter Sherri Dawn Slate Thompson; his siblings, Harold Slate, Elizabeth Slate, Billy Slate and David Slate; and his stepson Bobby Moreland.
He is survived by: his wife Sheryl Moreland; his grandson Cy Thompson (Nicole); his great grandchild Arlo; his siblings, Donald Slate (Paulette) and Frances Slate Stapler; and his stepchildren, Donald Moreland, Renee Moreland Griffin and Kennette Moreland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Almon Funeral Home (548 Newnan St, Carrollton, GA 30117). A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Almon Chapel (548 Newnan St, Carrollton, GA 30117).
